General Sports Information

Covid Restrictions

In line with the new government guidelines, everyone over the age of 12yrs and 3 months MUST have a vaccine passport to play and all family supporters/managers and coaches who will be attending games must also have their vaccine passport available upon request. Therefore, all MBS coaches, managers and umpires must be fully vaccinated to coach/manage or umpire a team.

Sports, Registrations and Fees

This year registrations and information about sports, including Cluster days, will be done via HERO and online registrations. Each child will require a new form, for each sport. Please ensure they are filled in before the close of registration date. Late registrations could mean that placement in teams can not be guaranteed. This year there will be a firm NO PAY, NO PLAY policy. Fees payable are for competition entry and league affiliation. There may be charges for cluster days to cover the cost of transport, e.g. buses, and hiring of venues.

Fees

All fees are to be paid via the school bank account. Please use your child’s name and ‘(Sport playing)’ as reference.

Mairangi Bay School recognises the role of sports and extra curricular activities in providing students with valuable learning experiences outside of the classroom. Sport at primary school level is an opportunity for children to learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment.

There are many sports available for children from Year 1 to 6 to participate in either on weekends or after school. Mairangi Bay School co-ordinates teams for the sports listed below. For those who are unfamiliar with any of these sports, at the bottom of each sports page there is an introduction section where you will find a link to the basics of that sport.

Our school sports teams rely on the dedication of our school community and parents to coach and manage our sports teams. Please also note that some sports have limited spaces available (so children may need to be placed on a waitlist if teams are full).

Please check the current notices below, school newsletter and remind your children to listen to the daily notices for information on sports meetings / trials etc.

For more detailed information contact Sports Co-ordinator) at [email protected] or via the school office .

Forms and Downloads

The children, coaches and parent or caregiver of each child who participates in an official Mairangi Bay sports team will be required to sign a code of conduct form prior to commencement of competition.
