Travelwise
It was great to meet with our Year 6 Travelwise Leaders this week and discuss how we can work together to reduce risk and keep everyone safe during drop off and pick up. Travelwise is an innovative programme to make school travel safer, healthier and more fun.
The programme works with primary, intermediate and secondary schools to:
encourage and increase the use of active travel modes and public transport.
provide safer facilities for all road users.
reduce congestion around schools.
We are currently collaborating with Auckland Transport to create individualised Safe School Travel Plans with meaningful visions and practical actions to create a safer and less congested environment outside the school. The issues our students identified were:
Parked cars in the drop-off zone
Speeding along Matipo Road and Galaxy Drive
Not moving along the drop-off zone to provide space for following cars
Parking and reversing in the turn bay on Agathis Avenue
We would like to thank our Year 6 Travelwise leaders and Mrs Garton for your mahi (work). We look forward to seeing you in your hi-viz vests, keeping our community safe and adding back to our community.
Walking School Bus – We need your help!
Keen to make school drop-off/pick-up easier and stress-free?
Meet other local parents and get some fresh air and exercise?
Have your kids arrived at school energised and ready to start their days learning?
A walking school bus is a group of children who walk together to/from school with parent supervisors along a set route. Parents take turns and shouldn’t need to walk more than one day a week. The other 4 days are free.
Come to our Parent Interest Meeting in the school staffroom on Tuesday 21st March at 9 am and find out more. We value your support

Community Notices
Calling all parents! Shore to Shore is the perfect opportunity for our community to come together and support our kura (school). Many schools across the North Shore participate in this annual event. Your participation will help to earn money for sports equipment and develop our PE programme and enrich our P.E Shed.
Currently, we only have 11% of our school currently signed up! I am sure we can achieve 50% or more if our school community sign up. We will also provide a free sausage sizzle and a drink after your child finishes the walk. As an incentive, we will have a non Uniform Day to celebrate if we achieve 50%. Those that enter will have their names drawn out of a hat to have a water fight against Mr Janes and other staff!
