Year 5 Camp
The Year 5 camp to MERC (Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre) has been a highly successful and memorable experience for all the students involved this week. The camp provided a unique opportunity for the students to learn important life skills, such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience across three days.
Throughout the camp, students were challenged to work together in various settings, including on land, at sea, and in the air. The activities were designed to foster teamwork and problem-solving skills while providing an opportunity for the students to have fun and enjoy the great outdoors with friends, teachers and whānau (family). The camp also provided an opportunity for the students to connect with nature and learn about the environment through kaitiakitanga (guardianship).
Overall, the Year 5 camp to MERC was a resounding success. The students had a fantastic time and learned important life skills that will serve them well in the future. The camp provided a unique and valuable opportunity for the students to grow, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment through our school values of kindness, respect and resilience. Thank you to our Year 5 teachers and parents for your support and encouragement. We really appreciate your mahi (work).

A walking school bus is a group of children who walk together to/from school with parent supervisors along a set route. Parents take turns and shouldn’t need to walk more than one day a week. The other 4 days are free.
