We continue to navigate these disrupted times. You will have had another opportunity last week to juggle your working lives and your children’s needs during their online learning. Thank you to all the parents who were able to provide support and supervision during the latest Level 3 restrictions and keep your children at home. We hosted 11 children during this latest lockdown and were usually able to ensure the bubble students were able to connect with their class and teacher at their allotted Zoom or Google Meet time. I would like to express my thanks to the teachers who volunteered to be the bubble teachers last week – they juggled running a real classroom with running a virtual classroom at the same time with smiles and humour.
Some of you will be aware also, that the senior camp at Carey Park was postponed. While there will be disappointed Year 5s and 6s and some disappointed parents, we felt it was prudent to move Camp to late in Term 3. We had an inkling that we would be in Level 2 restrictions this week and while Camp could have gone ahead, we would have had to employ further health and safety measures in order to be safe. We also were concerned that not all parents or students would have felt safe going to Camp under Covid Level 2. We hope to be in a better place in September so that all our seniors can enjoy their camp experience.
In Week 5 (this week) we will keep large gatherings to a minimum so there will be no assembly this Friday. The Fun Obstacle Course is tentatively scheduled for April 10 – provided we are in Level 1.
Stay safe this week and hopefully we will be back at Level 1 this weekend..
Kia hikaka, kia maia, kia pono te ngakau.
This is your friendly reminder to download to an external drive or print any past reports. After the end of Term 1, which is only 6 weeks away, we switch over to a new system (Hero) and the school will no longer be able to access legacy information.
This may also be a good time to get the Hero app from either Google Play or the App Store.
When the weather is hot, it can be tempting to sit waiting for children with your car’s air con going. However in the interests of not inhaling petrol/diesel fumes and the resultant Co2 emissions, it would be helpful if caregivers can switch off their engines while waiting to pick up children from Galaxy Drive. We appreciate your help with this.
Culture Group Parent Helpers/Leaders Wanted
Are you passionate about sharing your culture with others? Would you like to share with our students? We would like to start a lunchtime Culture Group where people from our parent community come in and teach about their own culture to our students. I am looking for volunteers to come in during lunchtime to teach about a part of your culture for about 30 minutes for 3-4 weeks in a row. Theme topics could include songs, traditions, games… I’m open to a discussion. Please email me at [email protected] if you would like to volunteer.
Wanted: your pre-loved board games
Are you doing some autumn cleaning out of your games cupboard at home? Do you have too many? We would love for any good quality board games or card games to be donated to our school for use during our wet day playtimes inside the classrooms. Please check that all the pieces needed are there – we would like them to be of a high quality.
Please drop them off outside of Mrs. Webster’s office in the blue box. Thank you
