Principal’s Message

Kia ora tatou

It was a real joy to be in the audience for the Kids For Kids concert at the Bruce Mason Centre last week. Our children so obviously enjoyed this experience and I thank Clare McCormack for providing this performance opportunity.

Although the democratic process in the USA is under fire from Donald Trump, we can say that it’s looking healthy here. We have more people nominated than we have vacancies, so we do go to an election. I thank Robert Saunders for his commitment over the years. He is not standing for re-election. I am grateful to Scott Walker who has served so well as our Chair and is again standing to represent the community.

I am available this Friday at 9 am for a chat on any school or education issues. You are welcome to pop in.

Kia hikaka, kia maia, kia pono te ngakau.

DIY Eco Gift Night – Save the Date!
Thursday 19 November the PTA will be holding a DIY Eco Gift Night. Flyers will be coming out shortly with more information. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by emailing or purchased on the night. If you have an eco-business and are interested in having a table please email us. We are aware of our printing mistake on the flier – Can you spot it?
Community Day – calling all bakers!
The annual Grandparents/Community Day is scheduled for 4 December and we will need volunteers to help serve tea and coffee to the special visitors on the day as well as people who are willing to do some baking so we can give them a treat. All baking can be dropped off on the morning of the event at the hall kitchen. We will set up a sign-up genius closer for volunteers to sign up to help us out.
Second-hand uniform shop
The second-hand uniform shop will be open today (Monday 9 November) from 3-3:15. Please note this ‘shop’ is run by volunteers, if you are able to volunteer some time please email us at
Calendar Art: A big thank you to Lorraine Handisides for taking on this task and managing the ordering, answering all the questions and deciphering the names etc to match all the orders to the correct artwork. There is a lot that people don’t see that goes on behind the scenes and without the help of people like Lorraine events such as Calendar Art just wouldn’t happen.
Juicies: A huge thank you to Jo, Kelly, Johnathon, Amy and Julia for helping with the Juicy fundraiser. A special thanks to Bex who spent the week prior rotating them in her freezer, then sorting them into class boxes ready for the Friday delivery team. The small amount of effort to see the smiling happy faces of our kids is worth it. Even when asked what flavour would you like? The choices are Apple, Lemonade, Tropical and Berry and they ask for Orange puts a smile on your dial!
Yummy Stickers: Thanks to all those who collected the yummy stickers, please start collecting again. We have been able to get some Elastics and Hula Hoops for the school and will use the other funds to help enhance the fun run obstacle course.

More dates for the uniform shop are the next two Tuesdays 17th and 24th November and Tues 1st Dec Volunteer link:
