It is wonderful to have our kids back at school. We have only 6% still learning at home and more returning to school each day.
I welcome our new families.
Our school’s strategic plan includes a commitment to improved outdoor learning environments including shade areas. The Board and the Ministry of Education have approved an impressive new shade structure for our school. It will be a significant asset providing shelter from rain and sun for a wide range of activities throughout the school day. It will be between the double-storey classroom block and the blue artificial court. This project is made possible by special funding from the government. We will let you know when it will be erected.
I am available to have a chat over coffee with anyone who would like to talk about how we might further improve our school. The next ‘EduCafe’ session will be scheduled when we move to Alert Level 1. In the meantime, just call me or see me at the gate.
Enjoy the long weekend ahead.

Consultation about Our School’s Charter and Strategic Plan
Our Board asked everyone to provide input via the annual survey sent towards the end of the year. The feedback was very positive. After further consultation with iwi, we see the need to review our values to strengthen respect and kindness, manaakitanga. This will be included in the review process for School-Wide Positive Behaviour for Learning. (More on that later) This is The 2020 Charter
Deb Wastney taught here for several years before returning to her family in Nelson. She is now an author of children’s books and we are keen to help her get established and, of course, to promote reading. Sales of her first book also benefit the SPCA. You can see a copy in our school library. More information and how to order a copy : Micky Finds a Pet Human. They are $20 each.
