Principal’s Message

Kia ora tatou

It has been a busy term with loads of events and interesting learning happening at Mairangi Bay School. I was very proud to watch our wonderful performers on stage at Rangitoto College dancing and singing in the Mid Bays Performing Arts evening held last week. Many of our senior students enjoyed playing the Marimbas with Gerard the Marimba Mania teacher in the week before that. Our students as usual excelled themselves at the Interschool Cross Country. I am looking forward to seeing the Middle School Showcase which is on this Wednesday, as I can hear them practicing from my office every day and the singing sounds brilliant. Thank you all for working so hard and making your teachers and your parents proud, and look after yourselves in the school holidays. Sun and surf is only just around the corner!!
Ka mau te wehi!!

Welcome to our new students and their families

Sofia Obradovic, Keya Nair, Steve Hu and Cole Hansen.

Cross CountryCross Country: The weather and sodden grounds provided our inter-school team with the opportunity to run in true cross country style and conditions!!! We trained hard, and on the day placed an admirable second place behind an impressively strong Campbells Bay Team. Special congratulations to Harrison Jones and Emma-Kaye Schroeder who came first overall in their year groups. Also to Sienna Shields who came 3rd overall. Awesome running indeed! Bring on the Super Cross Country and some sunnier weather in two weeks time.

Also I would like to acknowledge and thank the parents who transported our team to and from the event. I hope your cars were not too muddy……

North Shore KCC EVENT REMINDER Bugs at Night, Centennial Park, Campbells Bay 6 – 8pm Friday 22 September.  What will we find when we go hunting for little creatures by torchlight? If they are hiding, we will become nature detectives, searching for likely habitat, under logs, leaf litter and in the trees of this regenerating bush. The date coincides with the beginning of the annual Great Kereru Count which we will discuss. Will we see a kereru in the park as dusk falls to record? All children must be accompanied by an adult who takes responsibility for their safety and knows where they are at all times. It could be cold, please make sure everyone is warmly dressed with raincoat, sturdy shoes / gumboots, hats and gloves. Bring a torch for each person, a pen, magnifying glass and a jar or plastic box to contain your finds while you identify them. I will be in touch with directions closer to the time. To book contact: Marilyn Gulliver at or 4785562
