Principal’s Message

Acting Principal Term 3
Bruce Warren won a Ministry of Education funded sabbatical award which means he has leave for this term. Jeanette Smail is acting principal for the first half of term and Clare Curtice is acting principal for the latter part of this term.

A suggestion from your principal overseas
I have been working this year with a group of children experimenting with Google Voice Typing. I recommend it to you if you are looking for a tool which provides an easier way for your child to write. It is free if you use the Google Chrome browser. Simply open a Google Doc and find ‘voice typing’ in the tools menu. You might have to enable your computer’s microphone. One of our students, Ella, demonstrates how easy it is here.
For children who are reluctant to write (because of the barriers presented by finding letters on the keyboard, manipulating a pencil and/or spelling and grammar rules) Google voice typing may make a significant difference.
