We grow leaders and life long learners.  We grow courageous and critical thinkers.  This does not happen by accident.

Our curriculum challenges children to question what they learn and it encourages them to engage in authentic learning activities.

The philosophy of the school is embodied in our vision for growing life long learners, effective thinkers and communicators with a strong sense of citizenship.

Learning and applying the four learning keys are critical.

Children learn to understand the learning intention of an activity and just what the success criteria are so that they can judge how successful they have been and further, just where they could improve.  Teachers facilitate this process.

A thinking curriculum provides children with thinking skills strategies that assist them in all aspects of their lives. Children with special talents are identified and provided with appropriately differentiated learning opportunities.  This is a strength of our school.  More information about SOAR and AIM programmes is available from our school office.

Success in all fields of endeavour is celebrated.School Map

Our Year 6 Graduation each December is a fitting ceremony at which our staff and community acknowledge and celebrate our students' learning and success.

Expectations for children are high.  Over the years the school has gained a reputation for providing high quality education, especially in literacy and numeracy, and a stimulating and varied learning program that meets all needs. Appropriate extension of children with special abilities and talents is particularly important to us.

Parents tell us they like:

  1. High standards of behaviour and achievement
  2. High quality friendly staff
  3. Inclusive sense of community

The school teaches to the New Zealand National Curriculum and has an agreed charter with the New Zealand Ministry of Education.

We look forward to learning with you.
